We had the amazing opportunity to visit China this summer. However, my computer was in and out of repair half the summer so I got behind on the blog and am just now getting around to catching up, so bear with me please. My parents have been living in China for over a year now and were so kind as to fly all 4 of us over for two weeks in August. We had a TON of fun and got to see and do many exciting things. It's been a few months now, so my memory is already a little rusty, so instead of just writing a long story, I will give bits and pieces with each picture.
This is the room we stayed in. It was one of 3 bedrooms in my parents apartment at a Marriott in Beijing, China. The rooms were huge! And we got full maid service twice a week and beds made and stuff every day.
This is the view from their apartment. It was often even smoggier than this.
This is another view from their apartment. Dad likes to go to that driving range fairly often.
Mom and Dad have a really big closet. That is where Belle slept so she could have it dark and quiet while the rest of us were still awake.
Their kitchen is pretty modern, but small. That's ok though because they eat out a lot on the cheap. Oh, those knick knacks on the shelves there....every last one of them had to be moved after a couple days because the baby could reach them. Good times...
Their living/dining area was also huge.
Dad had this huge jade boat made for their living room. Jackson liked to play with it even though he wasn't supposed to.
This is their koi bowl. Jackson and Belle just loved it. One of their fish kept jumping out and we would find it one the floor, but it survived all 3 times.
This is their living room. I'm told it came with hard black couches. These are the couches they had shipped over from Alaska when they sold their house.
Jackson loved the big windows.
This is what the toilets in most public places look like. They are called "squatters" and can be very awkward to use. You have to bring your own tissue and it can't be put in the toilet. I even had the pleasure of using one that didn't have runnign water, but rather a sink in the corner and a bowl for "flushing" excrement down the hole.
Most people walk everywhere and a lot of the stores don't have shopping carts, so a lot of people have these carts. Jackson thought it was fun to ride in.
He is such a goober.
Someone lent us a walker for Belle and she loved it.
When you are lucky enough to have an American toilet, in a place like a high end mall, it has a sign like this one reminding you not to stand on the seat like you would in a squatter.
We took Jackson to the zoo to see the pandas.
This was a very popular exhibit.
Weirdest convenience food we saw....a hot dog on a stick wrapped in a waffle....
Belle enjoyed most of the local cuisine... Tom however, is not skilled at chopsticks and learned at our first restaurant that it is not proper to stcik your chopsticks straight up and down in your food when you aren't using them....he was promptly brought a fork
Ben is good at the chopsticks, but apparently grumpy...and there is chicken on a stick...
Chicken on a stick was Jackson's favorite...
Belle loved her headband too....
There was a public park by their apartment with all sorts of places to play. It worked kid of like a fair, with admission and tickets to different things. Jackson liked the trampoline
And the car....
And the biggest bounce "house" I have ever seen in my life
It had slides in it
Popsicles were everywhere and they were also cheap and yummy
Coming soon.....our fun trips to see awesome things in China.... stay tuned....

Those were some fun times. Jacque didn't mention that Jackson didn't really care for that waffle dog! Haha
