Roofing

We are reroofing our house..... ourselves.  We have been at it for over a week now.  I say "we" like I am a major particpant, but I'm really not.  It is mostly Tom and Jake and Becky, Cindy and GW come help when they have time 1-2 times a week.  We finally got everything off and hauled to the dump.  That was a pain because we had two layers to remove and one just crumbled all over the place.  We spent probably $100 at the dump getting rid of it all.  Fun times....

Right now they are putting up the new shingles and even that is going slower than we expected.  We have a really weird roof so there is foam insulation on part of the roof, requiring long nails in order to hit the wood underneath.  That means we can't use the pneumatic nail gun there.  That section is also very steep and requires platforms and the like.  To top it all off, it has been warm enough lately that in the afternoon if they push on the installed shingles with the ladder or their shoes, the shingles get all disformed.  So, all in all, it has been a pain.

We only have 3 more work days to get it done before we go on vacation to Idaho.  Here is hoping it goes faster after this steep section is done and we knock it out in 3 days....or that the forecast remains dry until we are scheduled to be back....yuck...
